![]() ![]() Is there a way to fine tune angles etc (i.e. Some kind of rocket plane?ħ) Despite using angle-lock and rotational symetry, my spaceships often dont look quite aligned. Is there an easier way or rule of thumb for getting to these places? I tried a conventional jet plane but it only goes 250m/s and requires constant acceleration (so no warping) so getting to the other continents will take months of RL time. How do I get to a specific point on the surface of kerbol easily? I can deorbit roughly in the right place, but typically end up 1000km+ away due to the unpredictable outcome of drag. Am I missing something? Is there an easy way?Ħ) "Get EVA readings from the surface of Kerbol" missions appear a lot too. What distance would my active ship neeed to be from Jeb's ship for the game to start modelling the effect of drag on it?ĥ) "Rescue X from orbit" missions appear from like day 1 of the career game, but seem to require very advanced skills and parts to do. I'm pretty worried I wont be able to match trajectories sufficiently before drag causes him to de-orbit though. I thought two options: a) I take an engineer up there in another ship, EVA and fix his parachute or b) I take another ship up there with a spare seat and have him EVA to it. How to rescue? I dont yet have claw (career mode). Luckily, drag isnt modelled except on your active ship (and things close to it I think), so by going back to the space centre and ignoring him for a while he is still up there orbitting. low enough for drag to bring him down), as the result of a failed early mission I couldnt revert. Does this mean I can do infinite tests with one piece of equipment per mission, storing it all in the command pod? Or only one stored in the pod and one in the device? Since a scientist can reset machinery after data is "transmitted", does this mean that a scientist kerbal craft with some power source and an antenna can always max out the science for every activity by reseting and transmitting repeatedly until the science well runs dry?Ĥ) Jeb is in a command pod with a broken parachute in an orbital trajectory around kerbal with an Ap of about 40km (i.e. At the moment it seems like by design you cant, but if you EVA, take data, store data in command pod and reset, you get the existing data and the ability to collect more. Is there a free-look camera mode or some other method to get to these things?Ģ) Regardless of the answer to 1), is there a way to get to the right click menu for a part without having to click it in space (this would also be useful to manually activate a decoupler when the ship is spinning wildly, which is currently a pain of click-and-hope).ģ) I cant seem to get a definitive view on whether you can use science equipment multiple times in the same mission. I can open it, and sometimes activate the contents, but often I cant rotate around the CoM of the spaceship to an angle that allows me to see (and therefore activate via right clicking) everything inside. I'm not interested in mods yet, so no mod suggestions please:ġ) I have a service bay thingy to protect themometers and goos and the like. Re-entry heat and sometimes even booster stages too tightly packed heating up is now a pain if you dont design around it.įew queries for vanilla. As I understand it the new update now models cross sectional area AND shape for the purposes of drag (previously this solely was modelled on your mass), and introduces sculptable "fairings" to allow you to streamline unaerodynamic bits like most payloads. ![]()
